The tool you want is OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), and it's free. It's the main thing people use for streaming games to twitch, though it can record MP4's to your hard drive as well/instead

I need to modify it.
I need to screen the gameplay all the time the game run, then press the hotkey and turn the last 20 secs into an MP4.
Do you think this is possible?
Am I allowed to modify OBS for my needs?
