I would say that Linus shows quite a lot of management skill in maintaining the Linux kernel - it is no worse in quality than any other OS that I have had the possibility to look at the internals of.Originally Posted by CornedBee

There's nothign realyl wrogn with the kernel, its mostly the rest of the OS (i.e. the various distros) that I find clunky and obtusely written by a bunch of drunken retarded gorillas on crack. I am biased though, since i do most of my development for windows.
The good thing about Linux is that it comes with so many different tools & apps. The bad thing about Linux is that it comes with 5-10 different versions of just about everything, so unless you have all the time in the world to research which one is better, you don't know which ones to install; and the 1 line description for each app is usually useless in deciding whether it's better than the other 10 things that do that same thing.
