Ivor Hortons Beginning Visual C++ 2008

Any reviews on this one? I have background in C and started going through this to get familiar with VC++ and C++. So far its an Excellent read. Perfect for the lamen and its style and content seems practical.

Am I using the right book for my needs (to do VC++ while learning C++)?

    I like it.

Only shortcoming I've seen is that the index in the back of the book, is generated by a computer program, (as most are now), and it leaves out a lot of references which a human would know to include for human searches. Of course, you can't list everything, but the computer generated indexes are generally the ........z for technical books. For example, you're likely to find "linked lists", in the index, under "self referential structures" or some such nonsense.
