for example i enter 10. what code i will use.


i dont know the code for factorial.

What do you struggle with? Do you know how to calculate factorial in general?

If you know how to perform the calculation itself, why don't you write down each step in English. It should then be pretty straightforward to write code to calculate it in C.

fact(1)=1*1=1

.... and so on.

i dunno how to program this.

Right, so how would you go about working out factorial for 10 by hand? Describe each of the steps.

By the way, what laserlight meant is that we "don't do your homework for you", not that we won't help you get it done - just that YOU have to put some effort in too!

Use a for loop to count from 1 to n.
Then multiply.

The best way to do this is with a recursive function. But since you are totally new, there is no point pointing u to do it that way.

Request the user to enter a number.

Then scan that number into a variable.

Then use a for loop, and an index to count down upto but not including 0.
In that loop, here is what you must put down.

where fact is the variable for factorial and i is the index.

Then just print the result after exiting the loop.

Yes, this is like a recursive function type, but is in no way complete. Forget doing recursive, focus on the method I just told you above

Actually, iteration with a for loop is definitely better than recursion, in this case.

No. There exists a formula to calculate the Fibonacci numbers, though the Fibonacci numbers can also be calculated recursively (and the series is in fact defined recursively).

Before doing fibonnaci series and other stuff, focus on doing the factorial problem.

One step at a time.

Use the loop scenario. A for loop or while loop is fine.

But if you want to use %d then just change double fact to int fact

If you don't want to use void then use:

That's the factorial method.

So now in the main function, request the user to enter a number.
Scan that number, and send that number to the factorial function.

At a glance, that does not compile. Fix it such that it compiles (hint: the first line is already problematic).

Where do you call the function? In the main right?

So define a variable.

int x = 10;

Then call the factorial function with fact(x);

Or whatever the name of the function is.
It's just basic maths...or common sense.

Me thinks you are just copying from somewhere without understanding it, perhaps from some friend or some other source or something.

There is no way you would be doing a recursive function and not understanding variables and how to pass a value into another function.

You should have to stuck to a simple for loop.

You are needlessly complicating things for yourself.

You didn't even think about what I suggested earlier. A FOR LOOP is all you need!
