i own windows game programming for dummies by andre lamoth. Its ok and gives a gentle introduction, i fell it could go into a lit more detila in some places but good as an intro.
WGPFD is good but it's outdated as far as DirectX is concerned, based on DX5 it teaches DDraw first, which is supported now only through backwards compatability. It does however teach things about getting into windows, game design and a way of thinking that still applies.
