The project that ive been getting ready to do is an RTS.
What I want to do is make a freeware RTS that uses the battletech universe, but I also wanted to make it modular enough that it could be adapted to any rule set without much of a hassle.
I was thinking that we might want to make something more simple for a first project with this group?
We could start out with a simple tile-based RPG . . . .
A RTS would be a lot of fun.
I'd say start out with a "top-down" turn-based strategy game before moving into an isometric RTS to get skills sharpened etc.
A traditional RTS is quite complex.
Do you guys think you could post future things related to this on the general board, at least until you actually beign coding it?
Yes, govtcheez is right. Or maybe the Game board would be more appropriate...
Anyway, I personally think it should start as a "shooter" game, move on to an action game, and end up as an RPG action/adventure.
Too ambitious?
I am currently digging into 3D if that helps, though I lack the experience...
I think an rpg would be fun to make.
We will be practicing before we dive into the whole project, on little things, like small wolfinstein things, as he said tile-based RPG and ect. Once we are agood working group we will get going on the real program.

What exactly is wrong with this thread, ok so it's game related BUT MAYBE someone who hasn't thought of ever programming a game would see a post like this and get interested?

I agree with Eber Kain...we should make an RTS in the Battletech Universe. Battletech is awesome. How long have you played Eber? I have played for 10 years now.
