Is there a command that pings a URL and can return the page header?

Im looking to write a program that will ping a series of sites

IE www.stuff.com/####L####L where the #'s are 0-9 and the L's can be N,S,E,W


basically it would be a loop that would ping every possible combination of numbers and letters that fit that URL, and then it would return, whether the site existed or not, even better if it would return the heading of the website.


any help on commands that could do this would be appreciated.


anyone who helps will get info on what the programs for, which is actually kind of interesting and may be something you would like to work on.

its for volvo's 50,000$+Car hunt.


all the sites it sends you to are

www.volvocrapstuff.com/####L####L, basically ####L####L being map coordinates.

the pages aren't secure and dont require login, or the linking from another page, so basically you could play the puzzle, or see which pages exist and which ones return crap.

if this is against the TOS of the board, let me know and ill remove the thread.

This sounds a bit unethical...
By the way, do you realize there are 1,600,000,000 different combinations (if my calculations are not off)?
So, even if it was legal, you might experience some technical problems...

yeah the 1,600,000,000 sounds right, but the contest doesn't end till the end of May so theres plenty of time.


this is half serious, half to just see if it could be done. i have the next month off, but need to conserve money so i figured id find something to waste my time.

well theres' the system('ping #.#.#.#'); or ping /*url*/

But i don't think that'll be able to return any information to the program =(
