RE: Plagiarism, Code, and IP
I've been working on these issues lately. I've developed a program called CodeMatch (in a suite of tools called CodeSuite) for determining software source code correlation for use in finding plagiarism. It's becoming a standard for software copyright litigation. You can download it at www.ZeidmanConsulting.com/CodeSuite.htm and use it for free on sets of source code less than 1 Megabyte.
I wrote an article for Dr Dobb's Journal at http://www.ddj.com/dept/architect/184405734 and a paper for an IEEE conference that I'd be glad to send you if you email me.
I've also written an article on software plagiarism for a law magazine, IP Today. You can get the article at http://www.iptoday.com/pdf/2007/2/Zeidman-Feb2007.pdf.
Hope this helps.
