Colour and Screen Size

Hi everybody. Ive searched as hard as possible on colour (excuse my Canadian spelling) commands in c programming. Im not talking about font colour, which i found in the FAQ (thanks), but the background colour. Can anyone help me with this?

Also, more importantly...how can i set the size of the console window? I would like to have it larger, maybe also full screen. Any help is appreciated.
