what exactly do you want to know? It will be easier an it will probably keep the thread in topic with the forum.
iPod acts like a normal USB device. You can easily access it like any other USB devices.
That's just it... I don't want to access the iPod as a drive, but I want to access the device's music files. I'm working on an application that has to access the music files on the iPod to work with the MP3 IDtag.
And where are the music files stored ? ... On the drive.
Oh good answer!Quote:

A future note for you. If you don't know, don't post.
What do you mean "DB"? Music files are on the drive, so what else do you need?
You want to mess with the configuration files?
if you know how to read MP3 tag, and how to search for files in directories, what use can you possibly have for a DB? (assuming that DB is a DataBase).
People... The mp3 files (for example) are not stored on the iPod like it's a simple hard drive.
That's why you need iTunes to work with it.
I'm looking for any kind of way to work with this so called music database.
Or at least point me to a forum that specializes with these kind of development.
3 of my friends have an iPod (2 nanos, 1 normal 80gb) and they can copy these files directly onto the iPod.
Sure they can!
Get an iPod, try it, and then come back and talk to me.
Dude, do you actually think iTune hardcodes the damn songs in the iPod OS ? How do you think iTune updates your iPod ? Oh and how does your iPod read the songs ? It reads the parts iTune hard-coded into its chip ? Yeah right.
There you go.
A future note for you. If you don't know, shut the ........ing hell up.
I'm surprised this thread survived on the C++ forum this long considering from start to finish considering the whole bloody thing has nothing to do with C++
Double standards... or simply an oversight? I'm sure an oversight.
my uncle used to make his own programs for his palm mobile with C++. not quite sure though if he makes program for iPods :)
There are many iPod related programs out there... I just need a point to the right direction.
"iPod drive:\iPod control\music" - That's what that link said. It's a hidden folder.Quote:
