Project ideas
I've started a little game programming group here, and the discussion is being passed around about two things. What project should we start on, and is there any good free project collaboration software out there? My first thought was a mod. It would give you a chance to view good professional code, and you would be able to see your results visually almost immediately. Others disagree. They say mods are too easy, and we should start work on a full blown 3D game. The skill levels in this group range from beginner to intermediate and we just started this up to learn. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I have been in countless groups, and they have all failed from lack of participation of the members.

yeah, me too. This group is already up to 20 people, but I expect about 10 to participate at first, then that dwindle to maybe 5 later. That's why I'm trying to get organized. I'm going to be sticking with this, maybe I'll find others who will too. Finding programmers is usually the biggest problem, luckily, almost all 20 of the group are programmers, and graphics people is probably we'll end up needing. At this point, I'm taking everything with a grain of salt, and continuing my learning process. Failure is not necessarily bad if you got a lot of experience along the way.

I can make 3d models for you guys, the time I spend on codeing needs to be on my own projects though.

at this point, I don't know what's going to happen, but you can just join our mailing list or check out the message board from time to time. We haven't decided on a project yet. To get back on topic, that's what's this thread is supposed to be about :)
