What do they base that on, given that they needed liquid helium to get this to run at half that speed?Quote:
The team believes it is possible to make chips run at 1,000 Ghz, or one Terahertz, at room temperature.
A chip like that gives us newbie coders a stack overflow in just a percentage of a second. It scares me.
Definately cool looking. Apparently with the advent of "good" manmade diamonds, they are looking to increase speed further by using diamond semi-conductors. Unfortunately they predict this will probably happen somewhere around 2012 or so...
Makes me want to major in engineering instead of computer science.
Computer Science advances with the technology in the same manner.
Sure, 30 years down the road making a game like Doom might be equivalent to today's "Hello World" programs, but the real computer science will be utilizing the technology and producing things like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and everything else you see on Star Trek. :)
Yeah, chips like that could automatically pilot a ship like the movie "Stealth". I want a computer with that chip. Super!!!!!!!
I just can't wait until we're running SkyNet on this baby.
zomg, Judgement Day is coming!
I wonder if Miles Dyson had anything to do with that chip? ;)Quote:

Oh yeah... Virtual Reality will be great.
Horror games like Resident Evil will sell all of about 6 copies.
Lets not make the virtual reality so realistic that may cause people die from heart acttack when they play those horror games
I can't wait for VR gaming. Even if I'm 60 I'll still be in there.
Pwning teh nubie 16 yaer olds!!!!11!11!!
I can see some sloppily made programs in the future :) "oh no man, don't worry, its not like it'll effect performance."
