Windows Picture and Fax Viewer Problemo

Ok.. have windows XP home edition.. performed system restore.. restoration went fine.. with only one exception..

I can no longer view thumbnails of pictures (.jpg, .bmp., etc) because Windows Picture and Fax Viewer does not seem to be working. Thumbnails of my pictures are just standard icons.. and when I double click to open my pictures.. nothing happens.

I checked my file associations.. and all pictures are supposed to open with window and fax viewer as default.

Everything worked fine before the restoration. At this point, I am unable to undo my last system restore.

I did refer to this link.. and added a string to my system registry (which was empty) but even this did not solve the problem.. any suggestions..?

If you change your mind and want to restore the Picture and Fax Viewer, navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/SystemFileAssociations/image/ShellEx/ContextMenuHandlers

Create the ShellImagePreview folder and create the String Value (Default)
Assign it the value {e84fda7c-1d6a-45f6-b725-cb260c236066}
