laptop lcd screen
Hello all. I was wondering if it was possible to change my lcd screen on my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite 1715XCDS and the lcd screen, i have now, is actually fine. Reason why I'm asking if it is possible to change it is because the resolution is limited to 800x600. So, to be more specific, I was wondering if it was possible to change my lcd screen with one that can support higher resolutions (like 1024x768 would be perfect <i think those are the dims..>).
Thanks for your help!

I had a 15' TFT SXGA Active Matrix Display that just burned out for some reason. Well TG it was still under warranty. I had to send it back to DELL and they put a new one in the same computer. Only they upgraded me to the UXGA (1400 x 1050) for free because of the trouble. So I know it can be done, but not being a hardware person, I don't know if this is something you could do yourself or not. I would just give Tech Support a call and see what they say about it.

It's usually not worth it the. screen is probably the most expensive part of you laptop:(

Good Point Dissata ... that's very very true. It might just be smarter to get a new one considering by the time your new screen get's old everything else in it is ready to go.

Thanks for the replies ;), I think you guys are right. I actually found a website advertising laptop screen replacements and the average price was like around ~$500 USD. I'm probably better off buying a new one.

about that... there are intangibles you might consider when replacing your screen which might mask the money or tyme... [for example, my father is a laptop hobbyist... we've traveled far and wide for many a part...] and if it is just hardware to you, then the tyme and money would be quite more valuable, right? either or...
