monitor details.
this is my monitor.
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...ay.htm#1001090
I have been unable to find the following information:
(1) make and model
(2) horizontal scanning frequency
(3) vertical scanning frequency
my service with dell has expired, and i'm unable to find anything further then the link above on this monitor.
does anyone have an idea how i can find these details?
it is the lcd screen for an inspiron 8600.
[edit1]
i'm assuming it is pnp, but when i installed a new version of fedoracore3 it didn 't audo-detect the monitor. now i'm afraid to use a scanning frequency it does not support, and which according to my readings could destroy the monitor.

Back of monitor, silver tag, give us part# and serial #.
-
i'm assuming you mean to crack open the machine to get to the monitor?
-
Have you checked under Device Manager?
-
it is listed as a default monitor and also a pnp monitor.
no additional info under device manager.
i'm not afraid to crack into my laptop, but i do not have the time to take it apart and put it back together. i have a linux exam soon, and need to get the display fixed without any additional delay. opening up the box and analysising the internal serial number would be fun, but for me it would take up a couple hours.

do a google search for the specs.

........ dont open it i read it too fast and missed that its a laptop. Easiest way, call dell. They will tell you everything you need to know, just ask them.
