I've started using FireFox recently, and I've looked around a bit but haven't been able to find an answer. I have a mouse with handy back/forth side buttons, which don't do anything in FireFox. Is there some way I can set those two buttons to work?

That's really strange. I have a logitech wireless mouse with the back/forth buttons and they work with Firefox. For some odd reason though sometimes they don't once I'm too far in depth of pages and I have to manually do it. You could always try either reinstalling it or going to the maker's website (which rarely ever seems to help). :)
Logitech is quite good at supporting alternative software. Is it a Microsoft mouse?
yea that happened to me too. its almost a potluck type of thing cuz at first it worked perfectly, but then i had to reinstall for some reason and it didnt work at all. so i tried reinstalling and it didnt do anything. then i had to reinstall again cuz fireofx was messed up and then the middle click worked, but you still cant switch between tabs using the scroll  :(
My mouse is logitech, which makes it sound stranger to me that it doesn't work. Which firefox version are you using mystic_skies?
I'm still on Firefox 0.8.0 (haven't bothered upgrading in a while).
This may sound dumb, but have you installed the drivers for your mouse?
yes I have. It has its full bluetooth functionality as well as normal functionality, and it all works fine in IE
