Data Protection
Hi all, Im just looking for some knowledge or insight on data protection. What im wondering is how one would protect their data from being moved/copied from a personal workstation once it is loaded onto it.
ie.
Say i have a geological data set on my computer, and i wana make sure it cannot be moved/copied from my workstation, however i still might have to manipulate this data in some way. How can i make my workstation the only one that can access this data.
Any ideas, tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks :)

1) Do not share your folders on a network.
2) If you are in an administered area, they will have access to your drives. You cannot stop them. However, they will need your information to connect to your computer.
If you want to stop someone from physically sticking a disk in and copying your files, your best bet is to keep them in a secure folder which is password protected, which is something that is not inherent to a Windows environment, but can be done.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Another question here ... just wondering if you
have ever heard of a dataloader type program that might somehow make a file
uncopyable or perhaps encrypt it after each use ?
