Wow, that's actually pretty damn amazing.
I did see a piece about her on pbs...she is truly good. Almost every picture has a hidden meaning ass well; I esspecially likethe Pyramids - is she comes up with the themes then she is a briliant little zealot :p
Her poetry is amazing as well.
Seeing something like that makes me mad, because I can't even draw a fish that looks like a fish. :D
I can't say I'm extremely fond of it (not really my style, but then again, she is only 9, I guess, so that is damn impressive), but nevertheless, I'd say it is (if nothing else, technically) very good art. I am fond of 'The Pyramids' too, but none of the others are terribly appealing.
I'm a bit skeptical about some of that poetry. From 'Again I Find the Winter':
What on earth does that mean?Quote:
Shadows of enriched colors

I don't know, and I stink at poetry, which means it's good :DQuote:

It's really cool that she's so young, but beyond that I can't really say I like her paintings or poems.
Eh... I think that is a bit of a stretch. :)
With her poetry, I get the idea she is grasping for adjectives.
I agree with you. Once I get over the "WOW" factor it's something that gets boring quickly, although I've been known to be impatient and unappreciative of fine art. :DQuote:

Maybe she knows about string theory too...
Hey, she's more articulate than most people here. :p
wait till she gets to be a teenager and then you will see the true nature of her vocabulary, well thats if she hangs out with the normals kids and i doubt her parents letting her do anything normal.
She's probably being brainwashed by parents who want attention.
You guys are all so cynical.
it's in the nature dude :D
oh btw, wasnt she on Opera a year or two ago? the show about really tallened kids?
>really tallened kids?
That means you weren't on that show.
The kid can paint, big freaking deal. You should see some of the finger paintings I did when I was five, no one called me a child prodigy. And as far as meanings behind her paitings, it's probably all her parents, like others have said. Kids are stupid, period.
Lol its impressive that she has the ability to paint as beautifully as she does, (especially for a 10 year old), I know my drawing abilities are about as impressive as a pig wallowing through mud. However, I get the impression she is not really considering what she is doing other than following what her parents are guiding her to do. I know that sounds pessimistic... but hey I am a pessimistic guy :)
It's interesting that most of the responses here are quite bitter. The kid is freagin amazing! she is only ten for crying outloud...think about what you did when you were ten - ah, maybe you did, that's why the bitterness, jelousy, and envy.
:p ;)

The trouble is, that poor child is probably being forced to regurgitate this "art", at the expense of an education, by her parents who either want fame, money or just attention.Quote:

I'm not saying I don't agree with you... that is one of the first things that came into my mind was that she seemed almost forced into painting. The parents are also, as you said, pretentious fools, but, just the fact that an 8 year old has such utter mastery of the human form, especially the face (the hardest part to master) and is able to protray such raw emotions through it is amazing.Quote:

My point was this, whether or not she was forced to make the paintings, whether or not it is by her choice, not only does she seem happy with it (going by the pictures at least, we can't really now) but that she is a very, very good painter, who seems to have mastery at the age of 8 what most artist never obtain and could, perhaps, one day have the sublime touch of another Da Vinci or Dali.
Are you guys deducing all of this from the website?
I think there is a bit of reading between the lines, eh.
the end does not excuse the means.Quote:
