Read this book anyone?
C++ How to Program by Harvey M. Deitel and P. J. Deitel.
I heard this was a good book so I found one online at half.com for $5.99 USD very cheap I thought.
Im awaiting the shipping but I cant wait.
I also ordered "Beginning C++ Game Programming" by Michael Dawson. I am awaiting order comformation(spelling?) still but it should be in stock still...I hope.
I'm wondering if any of you guys/girls have read either these books and would like to know your opinions on what you've read of either books.

Deitel and Deitel get a thumbs up in my book. Very informative

>very cheap I thought
Yes indeed, seeing as how it normally retails for around $70US.
>would like to know your opinions on what you've read of either books.
I've thumbed through the first. It wasn't awful, but not great either. The authors chose some unusual (translation: not idiomatic) constructs, but I don't remember jamming the book back onto the shelf in horror. ;)

Just weird you ask for opinion after you paid for it instead of before. Do you know the edition of the book? (wonder why it's so cheap)
-
Well I read on other forums that its a good book..but I wnted to know your opinions..and I spent $31 for both after shipping..which isnt.. and I welcome all books..since they all can help in some kinda way lol..
But no it dont say what edition..they were all the ones printed in 1997 tho..

Depending on where you got the first one, I hope it's not some ebook or a non-published/illegal copy. Though, it is an excellent price. I have to use the 4th edition for my classes (but I use the 2nd, seeing as how I already had it and wasn't about to buy another one). It's a good book, but the organization is a little off.
The second book, if you get it now, you might not end up using it for a while (unless you know plenty of c++, but seeing your first book choice, I'm guessing not). If the games book talks about programming 3d worlds and such, while fun, can still be very complicated.
