Google news is still in beta and it's been up for over 2 years.
They're probably still looking for more server space. That's what happening right now: gets more space, gives out more invitations.
I have six invites, by the way...
Heh, heh, heh...
a rep from google is supposed to give a speech at my school on Wed - I'll ask him if I get a chance :)
well, nobody ever planned to have google's search engine come out of beta - it just happened...
If you take something out of Beta, and something doesn't work perfectly, people complain more. It's called a "safety net". And there are a ton of things they have to work out, like getting it to work in other browsers *cough* opera *cough*
nobody uses opera :D
in other [old] news, all versions of IE combined now hold less than 90% of the market
As long as it's in beta they can continue to make it a hot item for people to hype about and want to have because access is restricted to invites...
When they open it up to everyone to sign up at will that air of exclusivity will disappear and people will discover they're giving Google unlimited access to their entire communications history without any safeguards.
>access is restricted to invites...
I believe it will stay this way when taken out of beta
