Printer Problem???
Hi,
I am having a problem with my printer, because it doesnt seem to connect to my computer. It is a hp psc 750 and is not new. I have been using it for about 3 years, and lately it wont print anything. Whenever I try to print or scan something, it (windows) will give an error and not print. It doesnt have anything to do with the printer phyiscally. I have made sure that the USB cable connecting the printer to my computer is plugged in and I have gotten the latest drivers from www.hp.com.
I am running on a Windows XP Home.
Any suggestions?

Does anything else work in the USB port? Are you sure it's not the printer? If so, how? Lifespan for desktop printers is < 2 years. Maybe it's time for a new one?
You could also try removing the device completely (delete the configuration in the printer settings, remove the driver if possible, reboot, reinstall).
Also, do you have another means for connecting the printer? Serial?

check for spyware/viruses...from experience, printers are one of the first things to freak out when windows gets blasted...stupid printers, the last decent printer I saw was about 6 ft^3, weighed over 70 pounds, and connected with a scsi cable (yes scsi). That printer is sitting in my friends basement still chugging after 10 years....so fyi stay away from hp's in the future.

>>stay away from hp's in the future.
lol yea, you can say that again
it was kind of wierd though, cuz all i did was open the scanner door and then close it (to test something) and it started working again. Wierd.

the cartridge rail may have been misaligned or no reset properly (usually it moves all the way off to one side). I've seen that, but it can be the sign of a failing printer.
