I second the motion.

I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.
Write a book about your current experiences being unemployed. Naturally you will have to spruce it up a bit... Just say you invented the Triangle while you were working on developing the internal combustion engine and you gave B Spears implants... Then start trashing the government and say the rich make too much money and the poor work harder then the rich and complain about how much gas it takes to power your 3 ton 4X4 Suv which you drive in the summer and then talk about the bad people who pollute the environment even though you are an avid recycler of q-tips.
If you include all of that into your book you will cater to every part of society in some way or another. If you make any money on it i get half.:)
Like game programming?
Send your resume to Ensemble Studios! They are the makers of AoE!
Yeah, the gaming industry is very profitable.

I have a job, but I still want a different one...... hell forget that.....I dont want to work at all.....
Waytoohigh..... Why not try some freelance? Find some small companies that need bespoke databases (order tracking, costing...etc). Not a perfect solution...... but an idea....
Fordy, as you seem to be into the industry, how much "knowledge" do you need to get a job? In fact, how much do you need to know to apply for a job and not look stupid?
Like, what type of programs should you be able to write by yourself, or what type of functions you should be able to handle easyly (spelling?). Well, if there's anyway to measure this.
And I don't mean a job to "make" money, just a normal job, let's say here in the UK?

I'm not in the IT industry..... I'm finance based....
I do some freelance work (when the opportunity arises), but that involves setting up accounting systems...... Creating database systems is part of my 5 year plan :)
im too young to get a job ;(. So I have to make games for a living, and sell them as shareware! ;)
dirkduck: what type of games do you make?
Forget about a job, it sucks to work. Either be a serial killer or a criminal or commit suicide.
I'M SO ****ING ANNOYED. I HATE MIDI. I should kill every ****ing MIDI interface with my bare hands.
And logic audio PLATINUM belongs in my ****ing toilet.
It's not hard at all to find a job in the IT-sector.
Even as a tester you can earn nice sums.
Give it a try!
thanks. not to sound strange, but i'd really like to have a job. i'm sick of programming stuff that only suits me, that won't get me anywhere. i like programming but i'm noticing that i'm running out of ideas. i usually only program something that will fit my needs. what i mean is, i'll want do something on my comp. (i.e. automated tasks, feature thats not available). so i make a prog that does it. and thats it. i'm done. i think a job would would constantly give me something to program, plus i'd be getting paid.
Sell your stuff as shareware, as someone has already pointed
out. That will get you exposure, and it is something you can also
put on your resume.
If you stop programming for any length of time, you will lose
you edge.
