selling my old computers
im selling my old computers for some extra money and to save up for one of these.
anyway i was wondering at what these computers could sell at.
heres the specs of the first one im gunna sell:

i got it for abour 4 grand. i hope to sell around that price or alittle more. say you guys saw this for 4000, would you buy it?
next i've got an IBM desktop with 256mb of ram, voodoo 2 card, and a pentium III~1.0ghz. has about 10 gigs of memory. do you guys think i could sell this for atleast 500 dollars?
and this one faulty laptop. its an IBM T21(NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE!) and has a graphics savage, and a pentium 4 with about 800ghz i think.
when you move the mouse off the screen to the right it falls into a deep void, never coming back. also the battery has about a life of 10 minutes(f'ing IBM). Maybe i could sell this hotty at 100 dollars?
i might sell this one: a dual athlon~1.8 ghz each with a GeForce 3 with 128 vmem. has about 1.5 gigs of ram and 80 gigs of memory.
of course i have this one quicky the net admin for my dads old office used for somthing about getting by a firewall. serves no purpose. it has one of linux's newer KDE's and i installed windows 2000 server on it for the heck of it. it needs a lilo install in order to toggle between the two of them. its got an intel celeron and god knows how many ghz with practically no graphics card. it can't do games, thats for sure. it connect to the internet wonderfully though :D
hoping i could get about 50 dollars for this.
im also thinking about selling a dell dimension 4500c with a 64bit graphics card with 30 gigs of memory and 256 mb of ram(i put in more). it has a pentium 4.
what kind of prices could i get those for if i sold them on ebay? remember, i'm trying to rip the person off as much as possible :p
thanks alot!

my gosh how many computers do you have....
and that thing you want to buy is $60,000!!!!! holy cow!!! i wont have that kind of money for at least like another 5 to 10 years!!! (probably more towards 10...maybe even longer)
-
What you want to buy is more expensive than what's below. And those are $40k/pair.(read: I'll never own them and don't try to think I could)

the worst part is knowing i hvae about 1k-1500k into my beast of a rig and couldnt sell it for that. I doubt so anyway : (

My computer is around $1,000. I don't plan on selling it cause I just upgrade whatever needs upgrading, when it needs it.
My friend does the same, except he has a $5,000 computer. 3200+, 1.5gb RAM, 3 250GB hard drives, fastest radeon TV-in/TV-out......21" LCD. Basically, he went to a custom place and said, "Best of everything." It's only a few months old and he asked me about upgrading some stuff on it for him.
Told him not to bother with it for right now. The only stuff he can't do with the computer that he'd want to, is the certain MAME stuff that nobody can do due to CPU speeds simply not available - for years to come even with some games. When there are CPUS out there that are nearly a GHZ faster than yours, then look at upgrading maybe. But, hundreds just for a 200mhz boost is silly when your PC already hauls ass. :)
-
200mhz is an easy oc for that.
-
If he really wants to upgrade it, tell him to get a new mobo and a Athlon 64 FX
-
I'd just sell the computers on ebay and let people bid the price up. I always get a reasonable selling price that way. I don't think it'll be easy to rip someone off on ebay 'cause you have many competitors, so tagging the price above the market price will give you no buyers. Hiding facts or downright lying about your products will give you trouble when the buyers find out (try out yourself :P), also you end up with negative comments that will surely repel your future buyers.

I'm happy with mine. I heard alot of bad stuff about the rig before it was built because of the processor/mobo i chose, but ive got nothing but good results to the suprise of many. On air it never woulda gone this far, but water opens up all new doors.
I'm happy with it. My next mobo/proc has to be a mobile and a DFI nfs7 2

I'm happy with my Athlon XP 2000+ with 512MB PC2100 and 128MB GeForce FX 5200. Although, I really wish I had a more powerful system when it comes to 3D modelling and Morrowind. Golly gee, Morrowind has a horribly written engine. If I was Bethesda, I'd fire the people who made the engine. It's horrible. I mean the functionality is really good, the performance is just horrible though.

Howdy,
I know my dual AMD 2000+ w/1gb ram and a Gf4 was about $2,500.00 new a couple of years ago so I would think 4k for that dual proc box may be a bit high.

I saw an ad for a Ferrari Laptop a while back. VERY high performance. Also so a Porsche desktop which didn't seem to extraordinary, but once I'm stinking rich with a pair of vipers, I'm definately getting one of those laptops.
-
there is a small article about the ferrari laptop in this month's road&track or car&driver - I don't remember which.
