Creating robotic fire-control platforms for border protection. track and mow down anything higher than 3 inches. No questions. No confusion.
if it flies, it dies. If it crawls, it falls.
People would only be necessary to keep the ammunition loaded and tracks clean, oiled, and free of jams.

If I could, I would try to remove all hate in this world...I would also give myself lots of money. =)
But then everyone would hate you, so you'd have to remove them.Quote:

good point, LOL
the question is "How would you remove hate?"

distribute flowers and pills of chill globally... i'd get gill bates, bill's good twin brother, to fund everything... :)
hmmm... well i hope that i'm a shining beacon of a better peace... ixnay religion and everything... that's what makes it fun... i wonder if i've influenced any of you! :)
has anybody seen Matrix, the movie ? just had a flashback when i read the very first post by oskilian in this thread. :)
cheers,
I'm not interested in making this world a better place. I'm only interested in making my own life better.
How would I change the world for the better?
Hmm... I don't think I would actually...
...for one thing, I'm such a bloody-minded critic and perfectionist that there wouldn't be much of the world left if I were in charge.:)
...for another thing, it's pointless talking about what we would do to change the world/get rid of hate etc... The world as it is now is what we have to live with with all the bugs in the code. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but it always has bugs. There's not an awful lot we can do to prevent them. Despite it's bad points I wouldn't be without it. ;) :)

This is pretty funny, but I thought gill is a girl name, teeheehe....
Ok, back on topic, um, if I want to be this world a better place I would eliminate all selfishness, how to do that, I don't know, but I think that if all selfishness is gone from the world, everyone will help out each other, people will not harm others for their own benefit, and will become very considerate (communism will eventually work!)...
But that is impossible...A Chinese writer once wrote that the people are all born evil, well, not "devil" evil but "bad" evil...But another said they are born good, and are influenced into a bad person (this is acutally from a student of Confucious, or whatever it is in English) ...well, I personally think that people are born evil...I mean, babies cry like it's the end of the world when the mom forgot to feed it...geez, talk about selfish...
So, people will always be selfish. And in my class discussion about "The Chrysalids", I think that people will also always discriminate others...They will never be able to see pass other people's differences and judge them by their personality. That alone makes this world a pretty bad place...People start copying other "cool" people's ways just so that "they" can get popular, so that they seem like they "belong" to the "popular" group...However much a person denies it, they do it in different degrees.
Well, that's it...
Osk, how do you think you can make the world a better place?
And series, you will not make your life better by making others' worse...
heeey! now that's what i call a good post! and i could not have described it better! good job! cheers! hurrah! ;)
hehe, perhaps series' primary principle is that of relativity... :)
If I were a dog I guess I'd say "Kill all Cats!" but I'm not a dog.

If we're not having a conversation, then what in this world are we having?
Go where, you ask? Outer space. Where else? Interplantary
exploration is the only option Man has for survival. Once
Man leaves Mother Earth, then she will become a much better
place. Why, you ask? Because Man and Man alone is responsible for causing all the world's problems. Eventually Man will become
extinct, because Man will have made conditions on Earth unlivable
for human beings--but not other life forms.
rick barclay
That's not true, I think humans will first make this place unlivable for other life forms then die out themselves from lack of food...
Look at all the animals we are killing for our food, fur and other things...And we are chopping so many trees that animals can no longer live properly... we ARE making this world unlivable for other life forms too...
And thanks double, it took me a long time to type that out, hehe...
I would require registered users at cprogramming.com.
I would delete accounts that haven't been used in six months if they have over ten posts.
If there is less than ten... they would get one month from their last post.... and then bye bye.
No seriously....
What I would do is what I am doing.... not sitting around thinking about it, but acting in the best way that I can to maintain a humanitarian viewpoint whilst noticing and moderating the damage given to the host I live on and the people around me.
What more can you do?
No offense to you... but I have always found that question to be utterly infantile. Why? Because everybody's 'better place' is different. Everybody's 'better place' is managed with perception... a perception which indubitably changes often.
One can only find a better place within oneself and try to maintain it by being a person of action and steadfast faith in one's abilities and the things held dear.
A better question, in my eyes, is can we all ever agree....? Perhaps only in the finite reasoning of science and math, but even that can be flawed by those that do not understand the differences between the thought and the spirit.
Today the world is a wonderful place in my mind numbing stupor... why should it be better?
>this place unlivable
yes, kill others, and in doing so kill ourselves... i agree with that propositions logik...
and of course it's a matter of perspective/relativity... that can justify or deny everything...
>No offense to you... but I have always found that question to be utterly infantile. Why? Because everybody's 'better place' is different. Everybody's 'better place' is managed with perception... a perception which indubitably changes often.<
Um, maybe that's why he post this question? To get the opinions of everyone? I mean, you can't please everyone at the same time, but it would be nice to know what other people think. Of course everyone thinks differently, but everyone's opinions count.
And this conversation is just for fun anyway...It's not like Osk is really going to use these opinions to make the world a better place...Geez...
I said 'no offense' to him, Michelle.
This may be a new question to you, but believe it or not.... people have been pondering these things since the beginning of rational humanity.
It isn't the first time many of us have heard it.
I am not squashing opinions as you would suggest. I welcome opinions and feedback.... even yours.
>>And this conversation is just for fun anyway
Thinking is fun for me....
(BTW...You contradict yourself in your own post. If people can't please everyone and you are displeased.... well... I hope you can connect the dots. I posted my opinion... and it wasn't to please you.)
Furthermore... does everyone's opinion count if others have the opinion that it doesn't count. (how is that for a mind loop)
>>>It's not like Osk is really going to use these opinions to make the world a better place
Why not? Are you saying you do not think that he wants the world to be a better place? The exchange of ideas is alway affluential. The things you have come to know, have been taught to you by experienced people and by your own behavioral experiences. The things you learn as a child stay with you as you learn more through life.
Have you ever seen Good Will Hunting? Do you remember the highly opinionated guy in the bar (or coffee house... whatever)? To draw an assumption here... your perceptions and beliefs may (and probably will) change with time and as more input is received.
I am interested to hear your opinion on that.... Do we change our beliefs and perceptions as time passes? Why? If something is sooo correct now, what makes it less correct later?
You don't have to answer if you do not think that it is fun.... it was fun for me to think about it and type it.
p.s. Don't sweat things so much... geez
I am not quite sure I understand what you writing. "No offense to you " but I don't really get what you are trying to say...
It doesn't matter if people have asked the same question lots of times. People have asked the question"how are you" for like billions of times, so?
And I really don't get the "please people" part...
I am not "sweating" it, I just want to say that people's opinions are different, doesn't mean that we can't ask to hear it...
Ahhhh... I suppose you really don't get what I am saying.
******************************************
I agree with you.
I want to hear other opinions, too.
I stated my opinion, which you didn't like.
I think you were right when you said you cannot
please people all the time.
*******************************************
I can't make that any clearer, sorry.
Are you impling that I am stupid? Well, you are right, I am, and sorry for being so, I can't help it, let's just drop this converstaion, it is stupid also.
No I am not implying that.
WOW! You are funny.
I just thought that I was typing too confusing.
c'mon people now, we all three know that the more you share, the more you have... :) no miscommunication... there... :)
Was I funny? Wow, I never knew that post was funny, anyway...
Sorry, I just got a little upset, sowwie.....forgive me....
But one thing I still think and think I will think for a while is that Bet is being a little pessimistic about things. NO OFFENSE. That's just my opinion... You need a bit of fun to balance out your life. ( And don't say you already have enough fun and your fun is in thinking. Thinking is not the kind of fun i mean. And don't ask what kind of fun i mean 'cause i dunno :D )
hey... that's sweet... i agree... :)
If I had the power to change the world right now, I would get rid of cancer. Find a cure that doesn't kill the patient. I won't be able to help on this... I wouldn't be able to tell Coke and Cough medicine apart if it weren't printed on the bottle. :(
Series, ever thought about the fact that helping the world might help yourself, too ? Or your loved ones ? Or maybe just the guy who's giving you a free ride tomorrow ?
Fun? I am the king of fun! :D
Nice sentiments....
Thanks. ;)
I just want this world to be a better place, I don't care about who changes it, I just want this place to be better.
As for stealing your ideas, NO!, I have my own ideas, but I doubt I can ever put them into action. Michelle is right, this is a thread just for fun!

If we can destroy (slaughter) all the hackers in the world, this is perfect (at least in the computing society)

Did you mean crackers?

>I personally think that people are born evil...I mean, babies cry like it's the end of the world when the mom forgot to feed it...geez, talk about selfish... <
Why is it selfish to want to eat (live). Babies have no way to comunicate, what do you whant them to do. Say Yo mom, I wan't to eat.
People are born neither good nor bad, they are neutral and change based on influnces, and insights.
In order to make the world perfect we must blow it up, since that is only way for it to perfect, is for it not exsit.
Well since I (and probably you) don't want to stop existing,to improve life, people need to relize that some people are evil, and need to be removed. Also people need to realize why someone is doing something.
>People are born neither good nor bad, they are neutral and >change based on influnces, and insights.
A Spanish philosopher said:
"Yo soy yo y las circunstancias que me rodean"
gamegod3001: probably you don't understand Spanish, so I translate it more or less. It says that I or me (I don't know wich one to use in English), talking about a person, is himself "plus" the circunstances around himself. I don't know if it's very clear, but it says that a person has some innate characteristics, but they are modified/developed by everything arround you (other people, culture, anything).
The thing is that you are NOT born neutral.
I hope you understand what I've tried to explain :(
OK, I know. But the truth is that I don't know what will help this world and what will not. To share my opinions with others is not always a good thing to do, that's for sure. Sometimes I might believe that I'm doing something helpful and nice, when in fact it is just causing more damage than it helps. People are different from each other, therefore, what I think is good might be bad for someone else. It's hard.Quote:

If everyone was like me, I'd know exactly how to make this world a better place. So, I actually meant what I said: I'm only interested in making my own life better.
Hmmm, alright, a cure for cancer would probably not hurt anyone, but who knows?
Maybe that's a good thing. If your ideas for a better world involve other humans, their ideas will contradict yours. This would only lead to conflicts.Quote:

when I ask to myself that question, I think on a forgotten book phrase: 'it is more easy to use soft shoes than putting a carpet around the world', Kant says that the world is what you make from it, you create the experience, so if you are not happy with your world it is because you are mad.

Nice one :)
You can't change the world; in fact: you can hardly change yourself!! but that's good enough.
that _is_ a nice one... but if at first you don't succeed, try again...
right on? or left off? hm!
I'd make everyone take a test before they tried to have a kid. You need a liscense to fish, but you can be a complete idiot and you can breed as much as you want, look at a Jerry Springer episode!
Then I'd give everyone (of legal driving age) a flying car and cover all the roads with grass and parks (except racetracks, they're ok)
the change already happend.pray not to come back.
>(except racetracks, they're ok)
hm... and tennis courts... :) y'know, we do need more plant life and useful scenary around the world... but in that sense you stop to appreciate every tree lined on your street... unless you live in a really bad area... but absence makes the heart grow fonder...
more trees! :)

name of freedom, democracy, and all that's American and holy.
Even fixing those that need fixing smacks of BNW, because
you appear to be singling out a minority group for extinction
(that's what opponents would call it). You'd have to find a way
to make the prosties and their like WANT to be treated, not
force it on them. Then it would be all right.
