What are your reason to use Microsoft operating systems?

The computer i had at home had too much hardware that Linux did not get along with well. That is to say, cheap, 3rd rate hardware. The only good things in it were a PII-300 and a 4.7GB Quantum Fireball HDD. That was bought 3 years ago, it was pretty good back then. Hehe! That's why i had Windows.
I don't have a computer now. I log in thru the computers at school.
But when i do buy my next computer, it'll most probably have both some kind of Windows and some kind of Linux.
I don't think Linux will never be very big in the regular-consumer arena. It's just not easy enough.
But then again, what do i know?
adios,
biterman.
My customers specify that the systems I supply shall run under Windows. My customers pay, they get to choose!
At home:
I don't have problems with 2K, it has everything I need.
Easy GUI, Games, Office, IDEs... there is nothing I miss, why
should I change.
At work:
Users are used to using ( *knots tongue* ) a windows like
environment. So they get one. Again, there is not much I miss by not using another system. If I were sysadmin, I would probably think about switching, but I'm a porgrammer.
The only reason I have Microsoft operating system on my computer is beacuse the most games are written just for this ****y o.s.
But I do have Linux on my computer too!
using windows is very common, so almost anyone who does anything that is even somehow linked to the real world generally must have some version of windows on their computer, although they may have linux too. Also, windows xp is very nice, and I think that about all that linux has on it, is that it is free and a lot of the technical programs use linux
Why do I use Windows? Well, I'm a Linux fan, but there are tons of reasons to use Windows...Let me give you my list.
1) My network card is not Linux compatible
2) Windows has a bunch of games, and Wine is really wierd to set up.
3) Windows 2000 works perfectly on my machine
gnu-ehacks:
Your Win2k will work just fine until you compile and run this code
#include <STDIO.H>
int main( void )
{
for( ;; ){
printf( "hung upttbbbbbb" );
}
return 0;
}
This code hungs up WinXP too.
LoL, I'm not stupid enough to do that....
"LoL, I'm not stupid enough to do that...." of course your not, but think about that this little proggie hungs Win2k and WinXP. Doesn't this tell you something?
You might be right, but I still have many other uses than programming suicidal code. I still like to play Windows games, and my network card isn't compatible with Linux anyway, so I can't really do anything about it. If they were to release a bugless version of Wine, and device drivers were written for my network card, then I would switch to Linux totally.
I use M$ Win 98 on the home PC because .... well, I also have Suse LInux 7.2 and I use it regularly, but I have used M$ in one way or form since 1988 and its difficult to change -
I use NT in work ..
the other thing I have found is that Linux is not quite as friendly when it comes to cheap hardware .. I have a £40 digital camera which I just can't use on Linux .. and its little stuff like this that stops me from formatting my main hard drive and putting Linux on it and W98 on the slower drive which currently holds Linux.
So .. I use M$ because I am too lazy!
I use windows 98 second edtion.
Why
* It does (more or less) everything I need
* It's stable on my computer
* My computer is my biggest problem.
All my games supports only Windows... I am Forced to use Windows.
I got RH 7
