Hmm... what's with the new theme? New version of vBulletin? Also, are we gonna get the logo in the top-left changed to a CBoard one?
I like the new look, but we do need to change the logo.
this will take some getting used too...
This should be fixed soon.
Webmaster,
Apparently the search tool is not working properly - searching for something gives the "Sorry, no results" output. I don't know if you've noticed this yet, just thought I'd tell you
I, for one, think this is the ugliest design ever... and the smileys also suck... and the design... and the smileys... Can't you just use the old version :D (ugly smiley)? I still say it's ugly...
> This should be fixed soon.
You mean make it back to normal? Or fixing up the design... or the logo like people said... ? * Stupid smileys*
- SirCrono6
P.S. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Hey!!! I want Senior Member back!!! I only got it a little while ago!!!
I like it...even though it is A LOT different...
Hmm... well, in a few minutes I've gotten kind of used to the design. Maybe it won't be that bad. But, I found that something I searched for earlier today turned up no results, although a new search did... (still say stupid smiley). Is it possible to use version 3.0 (or whatever it is) with the old smileys? SMILE! IN COLOR!!!
- SirCrono6
P.S. Maybe...
P.S Episode 2! Also, what is Guided Mode and Enhanced Mode?
P.S. Episode 3! Okay, I know this post is horrible... maybe... ^ See P.S. 1 ^Code:std::cout << "Code tags!!!";
P.S. Episode 4!
P.S. Episode 5! Okay, last episode ;) (stupid smiley).Code:std::cout << "Code tags... are ugly now!!!";
I like the new look. There are certain places where it looks extremely ugly, but it's nothing a little time can't fix.
I liked the old look ALOT better.
The board search engine needs to be reindexed.
Holy crap is this ugly.
Old version's post text editor came up ugly on my Firefox. The new one ROKCS!!
btw, what's that new feature "add to someone's reputation"?
yea the old design was alot better.....this one is cluttered and too xp like
I am getting a headache from this look.
Hmmm, after awhile, I think it would be better to put poster's info (username, avatar, etc) on the side for less scrolling's sake
I do not like this look. While reading through the few threads I can bare to look at, it's hard for me to think straight.
meh...stop whining...you guys will get used to it.
Bummer.
A couple of days ago another forum I used to like "upgraded" to this & I thought "Well at least CBoard still looks decent."
Too bad.
Reminds me of chrome rims. I don't think much of them either.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the new look.
- The new version should be indexed by Google and other search engines. This is a big gain.
I don't think an executable and virus laden format should be on the approved list. I'd like to be able to download attachments without worrying about malicious code. I don't know if this is new. ".c", ".cpp" and ".cs" should be added.Quote:
Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip
- The look of the "Topic Review" when replying is utterly awful. - Update - The green color scheme looked far better here.
- The "unread thread/forum" feature works far better.
webby will fix the files allowed for upload, just like he did in the last version. txt shouldnt be allowed either, zips and images thats it.
he can move that car, you left the keys in the tank....Quote:

Why do you say that?
There are better themes.
Please... find one. :) Have a poll.
plenty of viri arewritten in notepad and can be made to look and upload as legit txt files.
eh it doesnt matter, if your that smart u have up to date anti virus anyway.
There is no plan to implement a while new theme. We have used this basic theme for a long time, and it matches the rest of the site. However, we will be updating this theme and making it "not ugly." Many of the truely "ugly" parts come from the installation script improperly converting the v2.0 theme to v3.0. It's going to take us a while to update it - but it will be updated.
i am getting used to the new theme already...although it was a huge shock when i first saw it...although yes there are some things that are kind of ugly, but not too bad.
i quite like this:
I like this theme for the most part. I especially like the space in the message box -- a BADLY needed enhancement.
The thins I don't care for:
Too much red -- the links are hard to read. darker color for the links
The grey in the post input fields is just a little dark.
Overall, it's somewhat better than the previous theme.
blegh, i liked the old design better, this one's giving me a headache with all of the buttons and pictures all over the place. I liked the simplicity of the old cboard
Not ad.. But i think once it is customised it will be grea.. the site theme needs to blend in...
And i some ho prefer the avatar and the user info being displayed like in the old version....
*Management Lesson number #somethig*
*People dont like changes... they need to be educated to accept any new systems*
Holy hell, this is hard to read. Change the colours!
>>Invisible mode doesn't seem to work.<<
Apparently your username is only shown, if invisible, to yourself. You can verify this by using runas to open your browser as another user.
sorry to say it, but I'm no real fan of the new theme.
It is possible that VB 3 has some new and better features then VB2 but the skin isn't one of them
BTW: the new post, edit, quote button are too big and don't stroke with the rest of the theme
But I do like the Archive
Definitely there are some neat new features here, but like Magos said in the other thread about the new look, the colours need to be tweaked a little - black text on dark blue is not so cool. I would like to see the user stuff like the avatar and so on back to the side of the post.
Which text are you referring to?Quote:

I don't mind the new theme. Old smilies would be good, the colours are buggered on the new ones. Other than that I will like it once I get used to it I think.
Just a test to see if smilies can happen in code tags:
void AClass::Display( ){ }Code:void AClass::Display( ){ }
[edit]
Sweet.
OMG that makes up for all the other crap
Code::p ;) :D :confused: :o :eek:
maybe im alone on this but cprog has always had a professional, simplistic theme and feel to it, and now it looks like every wannabe forum on the internet. This board version really sucks.
I'm with you 200% on that. Isn't there a way for the webmaster to upgrade/keep all the new goodies but still retain the old theme/color scheme? I personally don't mind some of the new options, but again I dislike many of them as well.Quote:

I don't mind the new code tag boxes, but HATE - HATE - HATE the code tag boxes when you have so much code that it decides to create a scroll bar for you. EWWWWWW. That's just too confined and restricted. When viewing a post from another, all the new interaction buttons(mainly the searching ones and ones that provide information faster) are kind of neat, and it's looking a lot better now that the user's name and information is left justified as it was before. No smilies in code what-so-ever is neat.
The old layout was better though, IMO, far better.
I freaking love the code boxes. No more having to worry about somebody posting a 500 character line or 1000 lines of code.Quote:

It's the full width of the thread for me (Opera 7.23 on Linux). What browser are you using?
> What browser are you using?
Opera 7.22, not very much disabled. WindowsXP pro SP1. I'll try upgrading to 7.23..
Why don't I have access to smileys? I no longer have the little smileys' box.
> It's the full width of the thread for me
Post a pic.
Does VB3 have a quick reply feature, so that we don't have to press "Post Reply"...I know that other versions of VB have that and it makes life a whole lot easier.
BTW: RoD, my car stays untill it is washed...I will be picking it up later today...I want everything to be sparkling clean...oh yeah, three coats of wax please.
Looking at the code it seems the code box is 640 px wide. I do agree that it would be nice to have the width be variable depending on the screen reso (IE take up width of the post section.
Agreed wholeheartedly. I'm sure the webmasters had good intentions, but this really sucks. It looks so kiddish and juvenile. I"m grateful for the forum, but this was not an improvement.Quote:

I'm at 1024x768 and the code box is about 3/4 of the post/content portion of the thread. I think the user information pane on the left could be a tad narrower and the code box centered and 98% width of the post section..or something.Quote:

We are working to restore the interface to its previous simplicity while maintaining ways of accessing the many new features.
One thing,
I beg you to please get rid of the red text on blue backgrounds and red on gray background. It is seriously hurting my poor eyes.
I like the new features of this version, but I hate the look. If you could change the theme back, but keep the new features it'd be great. This is just hard to read.
Code:
Code Code Code
;)
hmm...this text box i am typing in right now seems to be incredibly small compared to everything else....
So now that the board has a new look, everyone is calling what used to be the board just a day ago "the old board".
does this mean that the real old board will now be referred to as "the old old board" and the old theme will now be "the old board" and now this is the "new board"?
[edit]
I figured it out now....this new theme has that kiddy Windows XP'ish theme...that's what it is...
[/edit]
Ahh My Eyes
well, i have only one complaint...and it is the size of the text box whenever I post a reply.
In Mozilla the size is fine, but in both Opera and IE it is way too small.
I have attached a picture showing how small it is in Opera and IE.
Do you want the instant messenger icons removed?
That's strange. It looks fine on my PC /w Opera. Which version (of Opera) are you using?
Opera v. 7.21
and
IE 6.0
Is this better?
Three questions!!!
1) What is guided mode and enhanced mode (I asked this before)?
2) What is that little green square in my profile (although I like how when I how the cursor over it, it says SirCrono6 is off the scale ;) *ugly smiley*).
3) What are those group things in the profile now?
*Optical mouse is cordless, that sucks, batteries just went out :( *stupid smiley*
- SirCrono6
one thing that's really getting me angry about the code tags is that it shows the code in a 3 line box, but there's no scroll bar, so you HAVE to use arrow keys or your mouse's scroll wheel (which not everybody has) not sure if this is just my problem though...running IE 6
Hm...Not sure yet whether I like it or not...either way it will take some getting used to
Oh.. I think I figured out what the different modes are... and quick reply is pretty cool :) (Cool, I don't have to the use the ugly smileys in quick reply... I think ;) )
- SirCrono6
Edit: Curses! I do have to use the smileys!!! Oh well... bring back the smileys! - Ah... I'm ugly!!!
Err, something needs to be done about the smileys. And, again, what's with the green boxes and the groups thing? AND what's up with the scales of justice "reputation" thing??
Hei, I don't have the "report bad post" icon (look left). Thanks for trusting me :p
As you mentioned, the green boxed are your reputation. People can vote at the bottom of your posts if it was a good or bad post. One vote from the average user doesn't do much, but over time your reputation can change.
Dude, people probably won't bother to do this thing.Quote:

it seems so..........busy, and wannabe-ish.
Hmm, I don't think the "Send (x) a message" button works for MSN, and it doesn't appear that the "add to contact list" button works either. I'm using IE6, and I have MSN Messenger 6.1.0211 installed.
**EDIT**
Apparently Prelude didn't have the same problem... *shrug*
How about a new logo to go with the new design? Just an idea.
ewww..... :PQuote:
