hello everybody
not popped in for a while - so jjust thought id say a big hello to everyone. And a big hello to anyfrom here from the University Of West England, Bristol :)
I would also like to say that Java is a horrid language and was designed by blind, mentally challenged stoned apes.
any opinions on this statement would be cool

i'm looking forward to the day when i will learn C#.. i looked at java and it looks like a rather poorly designed load of OO crap.
-
it is totally based on OO, everything is in classes and its horrible!
does anyone know where i can 'obtain' a copy of Jbuilder?
-
Well, JAVA is, when compared with other OOP languages pretty abismal...I still use it though I prefer C++. :p

<Agreeing with stoned apes statement>
JBuilder Personal's a free download from Borland's website.
-
Why youu want JBuilder if you hate java?
Would you be interested in IBM's Visual Age for Java 4.0?
I have that, and I think I might have JBuilder, too, although
I'd have t look, because I'm not really sure.
If you take Visual age, you can help me lern it :) .

i need jbuilder because i am learning java at uni and instead of trecking over to the 24hour unix labs everytime i want to do some work is becominga bit of a mission, i wanted a compiler on my laptop so i can program while smokinga nd drinkning coffee.
I tried installing javac, but to be honest its crap - it doesnt work and throws up exception errors and illegal ops like theres no tomorrow. Why we learn java is beyond me, why we cant learn Cpp/C# - useful languages instead of a language originally designed to control toasters!

Funny you should say that, iain. We were just talking about
cell phones, pda's, and computer-controlled ovens and other
appliances. That might be the market trend in the future, and
if it is, I'll bet a dollar to your donut that those toasters are
controlled by java and not c++. How many more games, and
applications do we really need, other than upgrades? When are
people going to realize that all the rpg's we now have are just
like all the rpg's that will be programmed by C++'ers in the future? How many more Office suites do we need? How many
more graphics programs? I don't need any. Do you?
Of course, a radical new operating system to replace Windows
would provide ample opportunites to start over and correct past mistakes, but who's going to go that route?
