What is the difference between a internal IDE and internal SCSI?

ide drives come with most pc, scsi comes(came?) with alot of macs. scsi drives normaly hold less but have much better speeds and are designed better. ide are slower, but cheap and are everywhere. desktop = ide, server = scsi, rich person = scsi.
there different kinds of both, a search will come up with alot.
SCSIs should be a bit faster, but w/ the introduction of serial ATA, that's a form of IDE disks, SCSIs might be getting lesser attention from average users....
