Form To Email Script

I'm having a hard time getting my head over this mental fence. My website supports CGI & Perl, but I'm having a hard time setting up the most basic form mailer process.

I know there's a few different steps involved.

The form sends the informaiton to a script/program to get formatted.
Another script/program sends the informaiton to me.

Seems simple enough...maybe I'm getting dodgy websites.
Somebody want to help me out with some basics, possibly even showing me a complete, fully working form-to-email process(bare bones)? I don't want to rely on free web mailers anymore. ZERO versatility..and what if the mailer location goes under? Heh, woops.

I'd like to write myself, and configure, and expierment, etc....but I can't seem to get even that far. :rolleyes:
