Direct X
Im a very competent (cant spell:P) win32 api programmer and have been coding high res games using the gdi, but recently as the games quality im producing increases i notice that the speed is greatly effected and so i want to use direct x (which is alot faster in my understanding) and i was wondering first on how easy is direct x to grasp in comparrison with indepth gdi programming, and does any one know of a good web based information site for direct x (hopefully containing tutorials)? thanx
.... oh and sorry if i posted this in the wrong board...

I'm sure there are good tutorials online, but others will have to post them for you. I just wanted to say that I've always found that there is no substitute for a good book if you really want to master a technology/API. Being a competent Win32 and game programmer, I'm sure there is a book that is suited especially for someone making this type of transition into DX.

i couldent agree more. online tuts will tell you how to do 'this' or 'that' but a book will also explain why to do such things and alternatives (usually). =]
