access to online stock database?

I'm working on a school project that involves keeping track of stock invesments (based on imaginary money) with buying, selling, current cash, etc. kept track of manually. All of this needs to be done during the 45 min of class time on Tuesday, so a lot of time is wasted on keeping track of this data.

I was wondering if there was some freely available online database that was that I could maybe connect through via c++ so that I could automize the entire process for myself.

MySQL is free......pretty powerful (this board itself runs on it).....

Though programming dbs in C++ is not as simple as in VB.......
