VMware Workstation
Hey,
Again, more inquiries about linux. I was informed a spiffy little software that lets you run linux and windows at the same time. I was curious if someone could give me some more info on it. its called VMware Workstation. I suppos what I want to do is run linux in the background(without the desktop), edit my C/C++ source code in visual C++, then connect to the linux shell via telnet(kinda like a normal linux server) or maybe even use a terminal type thing, compile and run the mud. This would work much better than any other setup I could think of. Will it work?
any help is appeciated, thanks.
Sincerly,
Jase

Linux
Why don't you try some of the development programs that linux has to offer? Try Anjuta, a dev-studio that is just as good as visual c++. *nix is the best development environment, so just try out different programs

For the network don't bother with a hub (unless you want to later add more computers). I use a crossover cable that simply has two wires at different spots on each connector.
Something like 2 and 7 are switched at one end.
Or you could try Bochs. It's an OpenSource virtual machine program. Although it is a pest to work with. http://bochs.sourceforge.net/
