what's the best in your opinion? thank you.
anybody?
I use SDL.
There are lots of tutorials for everything, and everyone is always asking the same thing. How about trying to search on the board?
SDL? excuse my ignorance, but can you point me to this? thank you, i appreciate it...

okay, thank you!
Ever thought about going to a search engine and trying a search on SDL? It's amazing what those things can do.....
Now now... Why waste your time posting if you're not gonna be helpful? You can get your point across just as effectively if you just posted "http://www.google.com/" instead... ;)Quote:

Anyhow, my signature now has links to everything, including the programming guides that I use.
Heh I don't mean to be a jerk, but wasn't the original question about DirectX and not SDL?
Well, if you wanna learn DirectX, I saw a tutorial made by Sunlight floating around somewhere on the internet (http://sunlightd.virtualave.net). Haven't really seen any others, so it might not be the best around...
Well, yes, but as I originally said, he could search the boards, as that question has been asked many times... There are links in all sorts of posts. I stated that I used SDL, and he asked what it was so I enlightened. Not my fault.
Now's your chance to push GDI. :p
Oh, not to mention that I think SDL is pretty easy, and has additional benefits over something like DirectX, so I'd recommend it over DX any day. DirectX was easy to use in Delphi with the DelphiX components, but that's got nothing to do with C/C++. Heh.
Heh, well it just sounded like he thought SDL was a directX tutorial :p
How 'bout a truce? :(Quote:

Lemme guess, you use SDL? :DQuote:

This is a very nice intro to direct3d in english.Step by step tutorial.
here is another you might like http://www.drunkenhyena.com/docs/d3d_tutorial.phtml

yes, that's exactly what i initially thought. thanks all for clearing that up for me.
No problem :)
Your irrogance is very annoying, so please stop making unwarranted posts. Hunter has done nothing wrong at all. Also, stop persuading people to use SDL when they could careless about it. The person asked where he can find a good DirectX tutorial, yet, you found the need to post that you use SDL in chance that you might persuade the person to give SDL a chance. In return all that did was confuse the original poster in thinking that SDL related to DirectX. Make posts that relate to the topic and stick to the topic!Quote:

Why even bother?Quote:

Your spelling is nearly as annoying as my "irrogance."Quote:

I was stating that I use SDL, so that would be why I didn't post links to DirectX tutorials. Since no one else was answering the post, I decided I would. Many people had already asked for DirectX tutorials, so searching the board would have done wonders. Then the poster asked about SDL. So I gave links for that.
If YOU knew a decent DirectX tutorial, then why didn't YOU post it?
As far as Hunter goes, I wasn't attacking him. Text doesn't transfer tones very well, so you couldn't tell that I said it jokingly. I suppose I could have loaded up my post with those gay smilies... But I rarely use them.
You can stop attacking me any time you want, by the way.
Ok ok everyone, no need to start a flame war. DOlson, I can see what Techwins means; you've been pretty obnoxious in the past ;) But about your reply to the post, you could have reworded it to make it more clear about what you meant (I mean your first post). Instead of saying "I use SDL", you could have said "I don't use DirectX, I use SDL", which would have made it more clear.
But, Techwins, you could have reworded your own post a little bit, to make it less of a flame. And,
Because I don't want a flame war going on between us :)Quote:

Neither do I. I'm going to leave the subject alone, because there's no sense in arguing about a pointless topic.Quote:

Hunter2, point taken. Hindsight is always 20-20. :)
BTW, I tried out your programs at school today (no Windows here). Not bad. That Theseus one or whatever you call it was hard. It'd be cool if you had more levels. :)
If I had a lot of extra time, I'd port your space game to SDL so you could see the difference. Maybe sometime in the future I'll give it a shot, so long as your code is open for that.
Wanna port my game to SDL? Go ahead! I'm busy trying to port it to DirectDraw right now, but the more versions, the better. After all, what's a game if you can't run it on Linux? :D
P.S.
I took the Theseus level straight off someone else's site, I hope I'm not infringing on some copyright or anything :) I was planning on adding the rest of that person's levels too, but I got lazy after the first one, and I couldn't think of a quick and easy way to do so.
