Well I wanted to format my c: drive but since windows 2000 doesn't have any function what so ever that puts me in a position to make a disk like in 98 and such so that I can boot my computer. I decided to use a "me" boot disk.... it complained since "it" couldn't work with ntfs.
Now how do I format my NTFS file system without going back to fat32.
with the win2k as a boot disk.
with MaxBlast from www.download.com
etc
when I start downloading maxfile it says "error file not found".
Isn't there any more easy way? I mean, Microsoft created windows 2000 and NTFS so they should have maid it simple to format a NTFS disk.
Oh by the way... I need to do it in dos or something like that you know like when you normaly use a boot disk because I only got one harddisk

Yea theres an easier way, make a dos system disk, load to the prompt on a reboot and hit format c:\
whatever u do DO NOT USE FDISK your on a ntfs.
I always do it buy booting from my win2k pro cd and chooseing DEL partiion and format this drive.
What happens if I did use FDISK... Well, to be more specific then I started with using FDISK but then ended up formating it all with the windows 2000 cd under installation. Havn't I then removed whatever I did with FDISK?:(

You messed with partitions with FDISK.
so no the win2k format did not change the fdisk process.
But what if I inform you that while installing win2k "it" asked me to format the harddisk before beginning the installation, and in the process asked for partitions, which I set to one giant one.
Wouldn't THAT remove whatever I messed up with FDISK?
Plz tell me, because if I've messed up big I should begin from ground zero once more in order to secure my computers performance. :) Damn wast of time!
You didn't tell me that u edited the partitions with win2k, u only told me u formatted. In that case then yes, it overuled FDISK so to speak and did it on its own.
If you took these two steps in win2k setup just finish the installation, because thats all it needs.
