Rephrase of a question.

I want to make a game that will look like the Super Mario Bros.C++ for computer. Please tell me how to take BMP's and make them into a game like that.:p

functions that come to mind:

BitBlt()
SetDIBits()
CreateCompatibleBitmap()
CreateCompatibleDC()
GetDC()
ReleaseDC()
SelectObject()
DeleteDC()
ReleaseDC()

if you learn those you should have a pretty good understanding of how to do it.

as for making bitmaps...you aren't likely to find a graphics editing program that you can't make a bitmap with. Try Windows Paint, for instance. It comes bundled with Windows.

I want to animate the bitmaps and add actions and functions using the keyboard like j=jump and a stage area. Please help. Oh, and bubbles with messages coming out from the characters. How do I do this or where can I find a FREE tutorial on this.
