I have been wondering about what to call some of the characters frequently used in C++.
As you might understand, English is not my first language.
So, what should I call these characters:
( ) Brackets? Parenthesis?
[ ] Square brackets?
{ } Curly brackets? Curly braces?
It's quite useful to know the names of these characters when you're discussing programming in English.
( ) - parenthesis
[ ] - brackets
{ } - braces

My dictionary is somewhat ambiguous, both () and [] are called 'brackets'.
( ) parenthesis
[ ] square brackets
{ } curly braces
It really is a matter of opinion, I use the above method because even if you cant see the character there is little ambiguity.
The previous posts are correct. Most textbook and CS instructors use brackets, parenthesis, and braces terminology.
