Some of you might know me for asking alot of questions...well, ive finnaly got everything figured out!!!! Please look at my utility program, "Comp-Master". It contains a ultra-hex, ultra-calc, and ultra-rand. I did get help with ultra-hex from klinner1...but i did create it all...it also includes a help, about, credits, and exit command... PLEASE Post your comments on it!!!!!

Well, here it is!!
A little over done with all the ASCII everywhere, got distracting. As well, use a few more clrscr();, it just makes it easier to read. The random number thing could be better, such as choosing how many numbers you wish to generate, etc. Overall, okay I guess.
Well thanks for the halfway-decent comment, but i didnt use ASCII on my "start" page.its just a neat pattern done by cout...and im not using clrscr(), im using system("CLS");

About a week, as i was still learning...i have tp had overwritten everything in it at least 5 times...im going to update the calc part tomorrow to have square roots, and will post the update on this thread...thanks for the good comment!!!!:D
Well my idea now is that if i get enough good comments on this prog (like a beta test) ill add it to my website. if not, ill most likely sack it...lol:rolleyes:
Good idea (looking for feedback....), however, always keep your programs. I can't count the number of times that I'll find myself in need of something that I had coded (even halfway) before and thrown it away. I now back it all up, even the useless stuff. Who knows, I"ll either use it or utilize the CD's as coasters when I get a lot of guests at the house. I already use those too freely distributed AOL CD's for that.

The ouput of the program seems okay from a cursory check. It looks nice, but I'm interested in seeing the source code.

Good comment as in informative or good as in positive on the program? Because I found Kyoto Oshiro's comment informative and I'm inclined to agree.

It runs OK except for the ultra random part.
if you do multiple runs of the random thing it gives similar numbers. I did 3 runs and all three numbers were in 600s... very close.
I suggest that you use the randomize() along with random() or rand().
ditto for the random thing. mine were in the 2800s and were within 6 of each other.
Hmmm...youre right, mine were close in the 18,000's...ill fix that.:p
i think this easily qualifies as competition for calc.exe
although its true, the ascii is a bit painfull to the eyes...
are u using randomize or srand at all at the moment?
I'm using randomize....working on an update right now to Ultra-Rand..one to select what random number between X and X...i really didnt mean this as competition to calc.exe, i originally compiled it for myself, to do my math homework and computer science...but since everybody likes it so good, ill probably keep it up for download...i originally based this program off of klinner1's computer utensil, but once i beat his interface, and features, that all went to H-E-Double-Hockeysticks....computer utensil 1.0 has a slightly less functional calc to my ultra-calc, and the hex code features are basically the same, although Comp-Master 1.0 has the random feature, which i'm updating, Computer Utensil is probably pretty inferior (no offense to you, daniel, cause i just know youll see this, you check my posts virtually every day) I have the slight feeling that klinner1 is going to make a huge update to computer utensil, so i had better work fast to keep up..
For the menu system you might want to try taking the users input into a big buffer, typically 512, and perform atoi on the buffer array. Pass the retruned value through a switch structure, and use the default option for invalid entries. At the moment, the program crashes by entering invlaid options.

Heheh, your ultra-rand isn't working so well... I tried 10 times. the first couple numbers were pretty close together; then for the next 5 or 6, each number was exactly 3 greater than the previous one... I don't know if I could do any better though, so I guess I won't criticize you (I'm only 15! :D).
*BTW, I tried making a Windows calculator before, but sacked it when I found out the highest number I could input had (I think) less than 10 digits... so naturally, I had to shrink the edit box that you type in - when it was done shrinking, it was just over half an inch long :D
I had no issues with ASCII stuff, maybe it's just me. The random thing yes needs work, but all in all it's a nice program. My first calculator program was, needless to say, pathetic. Very good! I'm 15, and i started programming at about 13, and I was still on "Hello World" at that point. Now I'm on to Windows programming. Very good again, definitley a keeper, don't toss it!
