Quick question for you all..
Has anyone noticed a severe drop in video quality when using Linux... Mandrake in particular, but in general would work too...??
Just seems like the quality level should be better?

What version of Mandrake are you running? I use Red Hat 7.1 (seawolf) on my laptop and Mandrake 8.0 on my desktop at home. Both of them are running the latest versions of the KDE and Ximian Gnome desktop environments and the quality is fine. The only notable difference is in some of the text. Certain text and sizes of text can appear choppy.

well it was more of an annoyance question than anything. The pictures are usually ok and seem to appear fine. It's like you said, more of a text issue. I'm running Mandrake 7.2, and have been for about 8 months now. It's my development server here at work. Anyways, like I said, more of annoyance than a total problem.
I'm sure it'll be ironed out in later versions of KDE and Mandrake.
Probably due to lack of true type fonts and netscape.
hmm... didn't think about that.. do you know where I can get more fonts, Nick?

What are you talking about??? We're talking about visual appearance... not stability and security issues...Quote:
