I was just wondering for people who really know the game DOOM from ID Software, what compiler they used? If they didn't use Borland Turbo C++, what library did they use?
Thanks

dunno... but quake used DJGPP...
it did? then how come in the source code they gave us Visual C++ Project Files?
how the hell should i know
Go to id.com and look at the source!!!!, they might have used Borland because they used it for Wolfenstien
maybe that was the windows port...
the code i saw for wolfenstein was written for the watcom c compiler i seem to remember.
They used Borland C++.
If you go to idsoftware.com you can download the source to Doom 1 & 2, Quake, Quake 3, and Wolfenstein.
In their comments, they said they compiled it using Borland.
theres probably a lot of compiler ports out there but heres the way i hear it
Wolfenstien - in Johns own words Borland 3.1
Doom - i have no clue most likly Borland
Quake - i have no clue
Quake 2 - VC i think
Quake 3 - VC
Xterria,
most of the ID games source can be found here including the dll source to Quake 2 and 3 for making mods. and the full quake 1 source and buy full i mean EVERYTHING or it should be anyways.
www.PlanetSourceCode.com
Has anyone compiled the Quake source sans error?
nuh uh! Idsoftware doesn't have the source for Doom II! if it did I would of already of taken over the world:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
The Doom and the Doom 2 source code are the same. The only difference is they use different wad files. You would know that if you looked in the main function of the Doom source.Quote:

Yo guys did you hear about Quake 4. I heared that some other company is developing it not ID soft.
doom 2 supports larger levels and has slightly faster rendering then doom one...
Do you really think that THIS would be in the original Code?

sprintf (title,
" "
"DOOM 2: Plutonia Experiment v%i.%i"
" ",
VERSION/100,VERSION%100);
break;

"DOOM 2: TNT - Evilution v%i.%i"
" ",
