Working of getchar() and putchar().

(As described in the book)The while gets a character, assigns it to c, and then tests whether the character was the end-of-file signal. If it was not, the body of the while is executed, printing the character. The while then repeats. When the end of the input is finally reached, the while terminates and so does main.

I am learning C from book C programming by Ritchie. Now when i am running this program, i am not getting the same output as its explained in the book.
Please help.

You probably need to enter CTRL + D or CTRL + Z on a new line to trigger the EOF condition.

Thanks a lot @laserlight. Its working with Ctrl+M. There is one more problem that Getchar(), Or putchar(), should return or display only a character. But i am entering "Hello how are you?" and when i press Enter it displays the whole line. But it should display character wise.

That's the same as pressing the enter key.

Input is by default line buffered, so what you're seeing is what is supposed to happen.
