Anyone have a customized desktop?
Here is mine:

Don't get too excited!
WM: fvwm 2.6.2, custom theme and config
DE: none
Xfce Terminal 0.4.8
GKrellM 2.3.5
The distro is gentoo but that doesn't make any visible difference -- it looks exactly the same when I use Fedora or Debian. The art is Gusti Boucher (background) and Vlad Studio (in the terminal).
I wanted to have a little xsnow going but it's not installed on my laptop currently. Actually it's probably not on my desktop either, lol.
Notice there's <400mb of mem used with 9 desktops, FF10, gvim, gimp, slypheed, midnight commander x2, and a few terminals and little things runnning.

Moved. This isn't about programming.
Good old pure Mac!

You call it customized just because you added a fancy background?! I can do that too!
Feel the power of my ubuntu! :p

Background: The peak of Destiny!!!
Debian with fluxbox...the menu is never used...

That's pretty. Is that Zelda Skyward Sword fan art?
It's the kingdom of Zeal from Chrono Trigger.
Ah, makes sense.
No, I call it customized because it is lol I started off with just a tty login and built up the desktop. I chose and built my own WM, login screen, background, and installed cairo-dock. Arch doesn't automatically come with a UI like ubuntu. Everything must be built by the user.
Not as cool as MK's but I think it's pretty cool looking!
I'd post mine, but it is extremely "minimalist". It is just the background image until you hit a key or click the mouse.
@whiteflags: Do you know the artist for that? It is gorgeous. I'd like to see more.

I guess not, but the cleaner the interface, the better for me. Must be something to do with age!
Yes I do. More of the artist's things can be found here. He also has a page on pixiv, but pixiv is a walled garden anyway.
Here's mine.
Not too much customized on the surface, though...as the standard KDE 4.8.3 interface works very well for me.

@whiteflags: Thanks.
*sigh*
I wish I could art as well as I science.

I'm actually surprised to see that most of you don't make more use of the pager. I would have to post multiple screenies to show my setup, because I make extentsive use of virtual desktops to seperate tasks. Having just recently discovered KDE's 'activities', I'm actually converting to that functionality instead, as it seems to be a more configurable version of virtual desktops.
They're in the current version (4.8), right now :)
Just as you cook in a kitchen, watch TV in the den, and sleep in the bedroom, it's good to perform different virtual tasks in different workspaces. If you need to do something else, just go to that other room (switch workspace). Whereas most people compute as if though they lived in a 1-room house!
My desktop, in case anyone is still interested.
Ignore the second screen. Windows just likes to make a copy of both screens in a dual monitor setup. They're the same anyway (save for the windows I usually have open on it) and I can't be bothered to remove the second one.
Currently using my netbook, so here is the desktop. Linux Mint 13.
A lot of Linux aficionados around here. I feel like a black sheep.

^_^;
Thanks to the support of a couple of guys who grok the "GIMP" source I have been able to greatly improve the overlay code in my version of "xsetroot".
I still would have posted because everything but the actual background is hidden normally but because laserlight teased me about this I decided to go ahead and post my desktop with the overlay code in place.
The overlay (an image) changes every hour; yes, they are all the same style of artwork, but no they aren't all "Ponies".
[Edit]
I did not draw the overlays by the way.
I will edit this post again or start a new post with the actual artists when I can find his "deviant" page.

I thought your avatar was a joke. I didn't realize you were an actual bronie. O.o

I didn't realize you were an actual bronie.
That would depend on your definition of "bronie".
But yes, I am a fan of the show. Also "Animaniacs" and classic "WB".
Soma
a bronie is a dude who likes MLP.
I guess I didn't consider the possibilty that you may not be a dude. ;)
^_^
I have a penis and drink scotch, but that's about the extent of my "manliness".
Spiders exist only to remind me that somewhere deep down I am actually a little girl.

I got you beat. I'm even afraid of things that look like arachnids, insects and other pests. I used to be afraid of worms in a similar way but I got over it. Bees are also pretty useful, and praying mantises are cool. That's it.
I live in an area that gets "fish flies" and I hate people who tease me with them. I'm more disgusted with the idea that they just want to chill out in one place, on me. Sometimes they get too close. Like the other day, there was a conspicuous pile of dirt(?) of mysterious origin on my desk that was in the shape of a fish fly who'd lost its wings. I took a few minutes before doing something about it.
My paralyzing fear has let me keep more bugs alive than the average person though, since I don't kill whatever I find. I just go away. :(
Makes me think of this.
My new stand alone Openbox WM with tint2, wbar, and an embedded transparent urxvt terminal running top.
