Hi,

I've been customizing my desktop, trying to go from the very start to the very end

At the very beginning of startup we all know it reads UBUNTU along with ubuntu's logo. The same goes for the very end of shutdown.

My question is could this be changed to read something else, example instead of "UBUNTU" to read "POETGUY" ??

Sure. Check out this link UbuntuEyeCandy. This page shows how to change several different settings. I think you are looking for the splash screens. To just change the text you may need to do some editing of the graphic file.

It's pretty neat, i've pretty much customized my machine with everything i wanted ;) from logo to backend etc
