What's with the heart icon/pic when you like a post? Am the only one bothered by this? @Webmaster, if it pleases you good sir can you make it simply post a thumbs up or just indicate how many likes that particular post has gotten.

What's the big deal?
If using hearts is unsuitable for you, then you can't use thumbs either. Think of the distress it'd cause if somebody without thumbs visited. #GetOverIt
Wow. Really? Hearts offend you?
I'll take issue with a thumbs up sign, just so you know. Last thing I want is that facebook filth making its way into here. It's already bad enough I have to put up with the principle since the last update, I'd be thankful to not have to put up also with the imagery.
Besides the heart signal may not be gender neutral (if you say so), but the thumbs up signal trumps that by not being culture neutral, since in some places in the world is actually an offensive sign.
Wow! guys/girls. I didn't know you all felt so strongly about this. I'm not knocking the new addition, just the imagery that goes with it.
I agree that maybe thumbs up may have some different cultural meaning - still would like something that shows this - so maybe we can find something that's iso.
@VirtualAce yes, the hearts really do bother me.
@Adeyblue I doubt a thumbless programmer would be on here. forgetting the trouble they'd have coding...nah I don't see it :) #butNiceTryThough
@Mario F. Facebook doesn't have a heart symbol when you like a post first of all. Secondly, many sites, including Yahoo comments use the like feature. I think how this is implemented would actually be best to do on here. On there it simply indicates the number of times the post was liked. Numbers! that's it. that's the most universal and neutral feature I can think of. Why not that.
Heart, one may consider this a symbol of love, acceptation, and understanding. Someone else may consider it a set of pixels placed at certain positions of the screen, not meaning anything. The interesting fact is that the heart is black and after vertical reflection it gives you spade. This visual effect is gained by the thin gray line, which is the base of the symbol (like in the spades) and reddish user names (color of hearts and diamonds). In Tarot, spades is the suit of warning of danger and troubles ahead, and we need to be careful when reading its meaning. This little static image makes me think more. Contrast - shape of heart indicates peace and love, while the black color is symbol of war, hate, and decay (I associate it with atomic mushroom). So many thoughts and you want to get rid of this?
On a side note, this topic reminds of something... Caroundw5h, perhaps you are also bothered by this? [WARNING: some people may find this offensive]
