VC++ 2008/MFC: tab order and BackgroundImage

I have chosen to use the Doc/View architecture, but I've substituted the CView with CFormView... probably moot. In designing the dialog/form, I cannot seem to "activate" the tab order button to adjust the tab order of the edit controls. Also, documentation points to BackgroundImage and BackgroundColor properties, but I cannot find them.

I would assume these frustrations all relate to the same issue, and I am hoping someone can identify what I've screwed up?
