raid with ssds
Happy Holidays everyone...
It's that time of year again, time to spoil others and myself with technology. Think pop would love an SSD drive, and I was thinking of getting a few myself.
I have a few options here, and I was planning on putting some in RAID 0. Either I can get a pair of 64 gb SSDs in raid, or I can get 3 40gb SSDs in raid, and so on. Do you think I should go ahead and get 3, or would it be better to get 2?
Does anyone have any experience raiding SSD drives? I have raided regular HDDs before, and it worked pretty nicely. This time I'll be even more careful with the periodic backups, and I suppose there are linux utilities to make that easy.
Happy Holidays!

Ooh, SSD, I'm looking forward to my purchase of one. But I don't see why there would be any difference at all in RAIDing them vs HDDs.
Why RAID 0? I mean, it would be cleaner and easier in most cases just to partition your data as evenly as possible between the two. On top of that, a RAID 0 failure will ruin the data on both disks.
Unless your going specifically for the better read rates, you probably shouldn't do that.
