Data format for a program...
my question is, what would be the best format for a variable (or more than one) to store a set of ten strings, which will be filled from a data file (on disk), and then passed on to another function and used to load other data files (depending on the contents of the ten strings)
I'd like to keep it as clean as possible, especially for passing the strings over to the second function.
The first function reads the data file, and fills the strings;
the second function is the menu, it (based on user input) decides which of the strings to use, and returns that.
(editted: typos)
...just another quick question..
where can I get more info on the string variable?
What may be a dumb question..
How do I open a file, using a string?
i.e. when i write:
ifstream file;
string filename;
file.open(filename, ios::in | ios::binary);
i am given an error message stating that I must use a char* in place of filename.
Could you at least point me towards someplace I can find this out for myself? Of course if this is a stupid question you can just snub me.. I probably would too..
