Reading data from cables without touching the cables? Anyone know the term for this?

There was an article on Slashdot a while ago, and I can't seem to find it with a search engine. Some researchers were able to intercept the data traveling over a cable without touching any of it - they essentially measured the signals transmitted as a side effect from the cable. I need it for part of a homework assignment but I can't seem to find anything about it. Any one know the article I'm talking about or any other technical term I can use to find this?

Well, since a moving electrical current produces a magnetic field, and the two effectively produce electromagnetic waves, then I guess the most likely answer would be an EMF signal. Just a guess, though.

Good call - the winning combination turned out to be "Electromagnetic Eavesdropping". Turns out it's a lot older than I thought - some of the declassified NSA papers have stories going back to the '50's!
