Hello, World.
Community-
My name is Michael and I'm a novice programmer. Novice meaning I've never written a program in my life which is the category most people fall into. Second thought, I won't even consider myself or anybody else a novice programmer until we actually write a program. That being said, I've chosen to learn C++. As you can imagine, I have a million questions and thoughts flying through my mind. I've read all of the topics on this board and many tutorials. They've been a very big help. They've also been very confusing. I see that some of you have been programming for a long time. My main interest lies in A.I. Should I become a solid C++ programmer before I play with A.I. or should I incorporate what I can while I learn C++? I just want to prethank anybody and everybody that assists me in my journey.

Learn the language first, thats hard enough! After that try looking into AI, you might change your mind and wanna try something else even before that point. There is so much you can do but it is only possible with a half decent knowledge of c++ first.
In my opinion anyway.....

learn
definatly learn cpp thouroughly before you attempt to to learn AI, you'll find yourself very lost most of the time if you don't know the language. You have to start small, then maybe once you know what's up, make a small program and try to put some ai in it, and as you learn about AI, you can make the computer player harder and harder.

Quite right. Most real AI type stuff requires the use of some fairly sophisticated techniques. If you try to jump straight into AI now, you'll frustrate yourself, and maybe give up!
