Books!
Hi all
I've just finished studying a huge book teaching the fundementals of C++ and I bought a couple of books about creating a basic game based on the language... however those I bought assume that you not only know C++ but also the directX or SDL SDK's, which I don't. Most guides are not so thorough and I wondered if anyone could recommend book(s) on how to use directX / SDL in C++?
Cheers :-)

Well there is Jonathan Harbour's "Beginning Game Programming" but to be honest it's not very good, it's one of those books which leaves you wondering something on almost every page. I've heard people say good things about the Sams "Teach Yourself Game Programming" but I guess like every other book it has its good reviews and bad reviews. If you're looking for the absolute basics of Direct X you might find this tutorial helpful:
DirectX Tutorial.com - Win32 Lesson 1: The Parts of a Game
It takes you so far before you have to pay for the rest, but at least it gives you the flavor of things.
