im considering getting Mandrake 8, and i have never programmed for linux but would like to try. Does Mandraek come with an integrated compiler/ide, if so whats it like, otherwise which is the best ide to use?

I got the 2x Mandrake 8 iso's (install + extra-goodies). When you do the install, you have the choice to install whatever packages you want. You can then browse through the 'development' section and take a look at what you want.Quote:

I have the following languages/compilers/interpreters installed from the mandrake cd's:
- C/C++
- Perl
- Ruby
- Python
- Java (I'm pretty sure I got this one from one of the CD's)
I do most of my coding in Vi and my compiling in cc/gcc.
